The last volume of the “Among Billions of Stars” series will be published in autumn 2024. For the last time it says: “Somewhere in the sky a star is waiting just for you! When the fine starlight touches you, your life changes and everything will be fine!” Twelve new, wonderful stories for dreaming, hoping and marveling tell of big and small miracles. Volumes I, II, III & IV of “Among Billions of Stars” made it into many print media, onto Swiss radio, into an educational publisher and above all – and that was the most beautiful thing for us – into the hearts of many families and schoolchildren in Switzerland. We were also very moved by the reaction of the internationally known bestselling author Erich von Däniken:

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dux,

I read your book “Among Billions of Stars” with emotion. The texts reminded me of the old little verse “Whenever you think it can’t go on, a little light comes from somewhere.” Every time is a difficult time – for someone. Your texts are uplifters. Important at any time. Thank you for your book – and in Corona times all the more: stay healthy...

Most sincerely for the phenomenal Marisa & Walti Dux

In the beginning was the song

The story of the song “Among Billions of Stars” (Swiss German “Under Milliarde vo Sterne”) is truly special. It’s a story written by life itself. It arose in moments that all of us know: in darkness, in sad and emotional times it was written. And then it was simply there. As early as 2003, musician and lyricist Walti Dux composed this Christmas song. Since then the melody has been traveling the world – at first in small steps, now in ever larger ones. A melody that gives hope and, across languages, has taken on a very special meaning for many people. “Under Milliarde vo Sterne” has now become part of the repertoire of many school classes – especially during Advent. Even the Salvation Army plays it. Choirs in Switzerland, Germany and on Scotland’s Shetland Islands sing it, and brass bands play it in England. The Najude Pioneer School of Kaduna, Nigeria filmed a moving version. In the south of that country, a version in Yoruba emerged. That is a language spoken by 30 million people in Nigeria and Benin. Swiss television considered this version worth a feature on the “Tagesschau”, under the title “A Swiss Christmas song on the verge of a global breakthrough”. And the newspaper Blick also spotted the star song. Thus, more and more artists are discovering the beautiful melody and taking it along on their journey. The song is going around the world.

Short stories for the whole family, for young and old

Since 2019, five books with exactly 60 stories have been published. Two things unite all the stories: in one way or another, the inspiration came from our own life experiences, and they are always about hope. Hope is the foundation for the personal willingness to get involved and do something for one’s own happiness. Hope gives confidence in the future and has a positive effect on the body, the soul and thus on events and our destiny. In fact, our books came into being because people kept calling our song “Among Billions of Stars” the “Song of Hope”.

On our channel, we now read a selection of our stories to you at wonderful locations.
Over time there will be more and more, and we’re happy if you follow our channel.
And now have fun

The picture storybook to the song

Somewhere in the sky a star is waiting just for you! When the fine starlight touches you, your life changes and everything will be fine! “Among Billions of Stars” is the picture storybook to the well-known Swiss Christmas song that is already sung in many countries. Twelve wonderful, two-part short stories for dreaming, hoping and marveling tell of great and small miracles. Concept and text by Walti Dux & Marisa Dux, illustrated by Charlie Weibel.
(incl. lyrics and melody sheet “Under Milliarde vo Sterne” CH, “Among Billions of Stars” DE)

The authors

Marisa and Walti Dux from Bauma, Canton of Zurich, have known each other since the age of 12. They fell in love at school and since then have raised three children. In the meantime, they have proudly become grandparents three times over. In 2003, a dark cloud hung over their lives. Shortly before Christmas, Marisa was diagnosed with a serious illness that pulled the ground from under the family’s feet. On that sad evening before the operation, Walti Dux wrote the song “Among Billions of Stars” at home. Today Marisa is healed and works as a teacher, comedian and presenter. Walti works as a comedian, event organizer, TV quiz host and also as a teacher – and his guitar is always with him! Together, Marisa & Walti are responsible for the concept and texts of the book.

The illustrator

Charlie Weibel is a successful drummer from Lucerne who has already published many drumming books. On the beach of Koh Samui in Thailand he met Marisa and Walti about 20 years ago – while making music together at a campfire. A deep friendship has connected them ever since. Even back then, Charlie decorated his own books with comic drawings. What could be more natural now than to give him the task of creating the illustrations for “Among Billions of Stars”.

The teaching resource for the picture storybook

“Among Billions of Stars” has already found its way into Swiss schools. In collaboration with the teaching materials publisher of the Canton of Zurich (ZKM), Marisa and Walti Dux created a reading companion booklet to their book. The publisher’s long-standing editor wrote about this work: “This is the very first document I have come across that engages with LP21 in a very creative, valuable, extremely versatile and indeed appealing way. Wonderful!” The teaching resource, published in May 2020, is a modern reading companion to foster cross-curricular competencies in accordance with Curriculum 21. It invites independent immersion into exciting topics: research, investigations, interviews, role-plays… with YouTube, Google & co.
